When is construction expected to start?
Construction began on Monday, May 5, 2025. The contractor began work by prepping the project site, performing surveys, and mobilizing equipment and materials. A pre-construction Q&A fact sheet was created from feedback at the public meeting held on April 9, 2025. Please view the fact sheet here.
How is this project being funded?
The City of Delray Beach was awarded a federally funded grant from the Palm Beach Transportation Planning Agency (TPA) under its Local Initiatives Program for the Old Germantown Road Complete Streets Project. The grant will partially fund approximately 40% of construction and the remaining 60% will be funded by the City.
What inconvenience can be expected?
One lane of traffic will be maintained with a flagging operation during construction operations. Partial driveway closures will be coordinated with property owners.
What will happen to the trees and landscaping already in the right of way?
Tree and landscaping removal within the right of way will occur, but the project team is working to preserve the current tree canopy and keep landscaping removal to a minimum. Adjacent property owners will be notified prior to removing any tree(s) or landscaping.
