The City of Delray Beach is committed to designing, operating, and maintaining the community’s streets and right-of-way to promote safe, comfortable, and convenient access and travel for people of all ages and abilities. This is the core intent of the Delray Beach Complete Streets Policy
Improvements to Old Germantown Road will enhance residents’ quality of life and support safe, efficient, and convenient mobility for all roadway users including pedestrians, bicyclists, transit riders, and motorists.
The following improvements will support our Complete Streets Policy:
- Provide shared-use paths on both sides of Old Germantown Road (width varies 10 to 12 feet).
- Provide 10-foot and 6-foot-wide sidewalks along SW 22nd Avenue on the east and west sides, respectively, from Old Germantown Road to just north of Sabal Pine Condominiums.
- Improve ADA accessibility and install ADA ramps.
- Preserve or restore existing pavement via milling and resurfacing, as needed.
- Provide pedestrian scale-lighting on both sides of the street in addition to existing Cobra head lighting atop utility poles.
- Plant a few new and/or relocated trees between the roadway and multi-use paths.
